A New Beginning

2011 was a complex year. It had its share of good and bad, of showing some people's true colors and the kindness of others.
It's the year I introduced Novel Prevue, my little baby to design book trailers. Through book trailer designing, I met some wonderful authors; creative, supportive, understanding, and all-round good-hearted lot. For that I'm grateful and I send them my best wishes for more writing, sales, and happiness.
I also made new friends through my current publishers, published a couple of books, and planted the intellectual seeds for few more.
The year had a bit of a shocker with my mother's sudden illness in December. You hear about what the lack of vitamins could do to your health, but Man, Oh, Man! Were we in for a rude awakening when Mom was hospitalized because of it!!!
She's out now and okay, thank God for that.
I don't know what 2012 will bring me, but here's wishing all of us a prosperous, healthy and happy year.

Happy new year, y'all!

The Zargothian Tales: Return of the Son of Hamorin - The Trailer

Yes, I'm back, and I bring with me a bag of goodies.
Well, one goody really, but it's worth it. I've been gone for sometime doing this and that, but mainly I was designing a trailer for a heart warming young adult book:
The Zargothian Tales: Return of the Son of Hamorin by Aidan Lucid.
It is a fantastic story of a boy, who finds a coin that takes him to another world. Oh, boy, what a world!
Here's the blurb:
Outside the walls of Zargothia, two forces will collide in bloody combat. King Zakarius and his Sadarkian army fight for total supremacy; Argoth, king of the humans, and his allies - the Jenormes and the Volarks, fight for their freedom. Argoth's most powerful ally, however, is Henry Simmons, a 15 year-old boy from our world who was transported along with three others (two airmen from 1945 and a cat named Jasper) via a portal to Zargothia to save Argoth and his people. But Henry is no ordinary boy for he has come into possession of a golden coin that holds incredible powers which aids him in the battle. Will young Henry be able to free King Argoth and his people or will he fall to the might of Zakarius' army? The outcome will be revealed in the battle that will change Zargothia forever!

Some of the royalties from The Zargothian Tales: Return of the Son of Hamorin, will go towards helping Friends of ABLE, a charity based in Tralee, Co. Kerry, Ireland. ABLE helps people with disabilities by providing them with an opportunity to gain new skills and then assists individuals in becoming part of or rejoining the workforce.
The lovely illustrations are done by Leonardo Borazio. One illustration (dragon breathing fire on an airplane) was illustrated by John Blackford.

Like the book?
Here are its details:
Author: Aidan Lucid
ISBN: 978-0-9819158-2-10-9819158-2-5
Genre:  Fantasy/young adult.

Till next trailer  :-D

It’s Complicated…

Not my life, but the book trailer that kept me away from blogging for sometime. To be fair, Intricate Entanglement is not the only culprit. I’ve been busy writing and designing other projects. So, there you have it…I’ve been in front of the computer for so long that part of the chair’s leather is now attached to my glorious behind.
So, about Intricate Entanglement:
Damnation Books contracted it with a release date of March 1st, 2011. This is exciting because this story IS complicated. It takes place in a mental asylum for the criminally insane, and you get a royal tour of some of the sick minds that reside there. 7 stories in total, if you don’t count the eighth one, the mega one, the mama that connects them all together.

Here’s a bit about the book:
Trapped in a lunatic asylum and compelled to listen to the stories of the deranged patients, Doug Pinkham becomes entangled in the twisted mind of a cold-blooded killer. As the reporter tries to get to the bottom of a mysterious murder case, he gets more than he bargained for. He must separate truth from fiction as he realizes he no longer controls his own world. Will Doug manage to escape the asylum, or will the killer’s stories lure him into an enigmatic world full of mazes, each so fascinating that he can’t stop listening?

And here’s the updated/modified/revamped trailer. Since I design book trailers for myself and others, I did it again--> I went to that special place, a soft ethereal cloud like, where I go when creativity hits me. :-D

Hot Damn! I won!

His to Possess’ book trailer won First Place for the month of May on You Gotta Read Videos. Yes, you read it right, first place.
That wouldn’t have happened without the support of friends, fans, and family. I thank you all for the time you took to vote for me.

It all started with an annoying habit of mine (it annoys me) of HAVING TO create a book trailer as soon as the manuscript is done. Not only that, I would upload the file to my website and refer to it in my submissions to publishers so they get a general idea of the book’s possibilities. This habit consumes time, but I enjoy every moment of it. I love the creation process; putting the right words with the right images and synchronizing the whole lot with suitable music.

It paid off more than once. Here are few incidents:

  •  The trailer helped me out whenever I got stuck in a scene, or lost the motivation to write.
  • Once, a publisher I approached regarding one book saw a trailer of another and asked me to submit that one as well. Alas, it was already with another publisher. However, being wanted felt good.
  • It helps tremendously when marketing a book. If people are into watching and not reading, the trailer could be the ticket in. Just use the right tags and upload it to online video channels, like Youtube.
And now, I have it on record that sometimes, some people, do judge a book by its trailer.

Here’s His to Possess.

Your Wish

Inhale deeply.

Relax.

Exhale slowly.

Picture an opportunity to get your deepest, most desperate, wish come true.

Just imagine that wish taking form in real life.

Now, answer this question: What can go wrong with a wish stated with deliberate carefulness?

You might say nothing.

There are movies and books about wishes that went awry and terribly wrong. Many people—and you might be one of them—would think, “I know I could’ve stated it better.”

Well, think again, keeping in mind that the wish granter may be bent on twisting the meaning of every word you utter.

There are creatures that exist solely to bring sorrow and pain into our lives, if we still have one when they’re done with us. Some of those creatures are human.

Some are not.

Meet one of the not so human variety: Zuphreen. There is a reason why he is called the “Bestower of Damnation.”

You don’t believe me, do you?

Well, I’ll leave you with the book trailer to decide for yourself. If interested, the book will be released on June 1, 2010.

I won’t ask what your wish is. I’m keeping mine to myself.
